What do you think is the worst thing about rock and metal music?
I’ll go first. Sometimes I think there can be gatekeeping/elitism in rock and metal where certain fans think that you have to like or dislike certain songs/artists. I find this really annoying sometimes, especially when you are confronted by these fans. My philosophy is to just let people like what they like.

Sometimes, I notice a lot of writers take a song they consider “dark” and use it in a story to try and make it seem more “serious.”
But it just ruins the serious topics in the song as they’re using it recklessly to try and look edgy. It feels a little disrespectful. That’s more of a writing pet peeve than a music one, though…
I guess the best answer I can think of.
Not enough women creating it.

There are times when a song is perfect and enjoyable just the way it is and then it goes through so many different cover versions that the best and original is forgotten. Then on the other hand there are cover versions of songs that are much better than the original so we just have to keep our eyes and ears open and choose for ourselves what we really like and what is pleasing to our ears.
