Blur and Oasis for years were competitive with each other, even got to the point of releasing songs on the same day just to see who would come out on top… Turns out it was Blur, Oasis didn’t take it kindly and wished AIDS on Blur band members (they have since apologized!)

    I always loved Wonderwall more than the band. I know that’s weird.

      I totally get that…my response , exactly. The shenanigans of the Gallagher bros. aside, I vote for Wonderwall. To me, it’s a vital 90’s anthem, whereas Song 2 exists in my head as background music for a car commercial.

    I’m leaning Blur, mostly because I couldn’t stand the antics of the Gallagher lads. Wonderwall felt overrated back then and still does.

    Song 2 feels like it helped define some of the sound that followed.

    But I wasn’t a huge fan of either band then or now.

    Wonderwall is overrated but you can’t not sing a long to it when played. Song 2 is my favourite Blur song, it’s just fun and energetic. So I will pick Song 2.

    I would say Oasis is the better band though.

    These two songs would’ve been better for The Battle of Britpop rather than Roll With It and Country House.

      Agreed on your last point , think wonderwall is the superior song though. Can’t stand oasis as people though

        They have better songs but I think the band is overrated too. But I’d happily watch them live. I did see Liam perform rock n roll star and live forever with foo fighters last year which was awesome.

        My favourite fact is that Robson and Jerome beat them to number 1 😂

          Oh they are so overrated I’d not go and see them if they reformed.

            Liam was first up at the Taylor Hawkins gig at Wembley.

            I do prefer Liam.

            Its a great fact! Charts used to be fun 😂

    It’s hard to compare the two, since they are stylistically different. You’re not playing Song 2 around a campfire or participating in the mosh pit during Wonderwall.
    Both were overplayed.

    At the time, I would have picked Wonderwall, but now I much prefer Blur to Oasis on all counts. Can I pick Fugazi Song #2 instead? 😀

    I prefer Song 2 but suspect that Wonderwall might be better known these days. “You’re my wonderwall” is a more memorable lyric.

    Wonderwall is my jam, really and truly. But the moment I hear the first few beats of Song 2 I will rock tf out. Still I have to go with Wonderwall.

    In general I’m a fan of Blur. Still remember the feeling when I bought the Parklife CD used 5 years after it was released and listening to it nonstop for a week. Oasis, I only liked some of their hits but never got into their deeper cuts. And like many have commented here- the Gallagher Bros were off-putting.

    However I do like both songs. The only reason I give Wonderwall the edge is because I know how to play that one on guitar. I could probably learn Song #2, just haven’t made time!
