Rock City is Nottingham’s most iconic music venue which currently houses the ashes of the legendary Lemmy of Motorhead.
Gracing the stage this time are the Aussie rockers Jet, who are doing a full tour of the UK and Ireland for the first time in 15 years, this is where I (St Jimmy) last saw them at the same venue and almost exactly to the date! When we saw they were touring to celebrate 20 years of their debut platinum album Get Born, we had to get tickets.

We headed into Rock City early to get to the barrier, it seemed that it took a while for the room to fill up, and it didn’t seem that may people came in time to see the support act, Tempesst!
We are glad we got to watch them, they reminded us of summer afternoon festival music, the day drinking and chill vibes were a nice warmth to remember on a cold evening. The Tempesst played 10 songs including Must Be A Dream’, ‘Mushroom Crowd’ and their latest single ‘Long Way Down’, whilst the drummer was playing and filming parts of the set.
With only one little slip up with the lead singer realising he had the wrong guitar during one of thier early songs, the set went down well with the crowd, including the people that were coming in as they were finishing thier set. We would love to see these guys again, hopefully at a more appropriate place and time for their music!
With the usual half an hour wait, St. Jimmy headed to the bar to get us another drink. We were surprised about the ease of getting in and out the crowd, we were definitely expecting it to be a lot busier for Jet!

Before playing all 13 songs from Get Born, Jet played 4 songs not on the album. They opened up with ‘Put You’re Money Where Your Mouth Is’, ‘She’s A Genius’ and their new single ‘Hurry Hurry’. Although the crowd was dancing and singing along.
Jet began screaming “YEAH!” from the song ‘Last Chance’ but you could tell a few people were only there for one song, with one guy pushing Rex out the way screaming “You have got to let me in!” luckily he left right after ‘Are You Gonna be My Girl’ we enjoyed all the songs off the album such as ‘Cold Hard Bitch’ and ‘Look What You’ve Done’
Most of the crowd was full of die hard fans, singing the whole album and even doing guitar noises where the guitarist put his guitar to his ear, it was a fantastic atmosphere throughout the whole night. Jet played 3 songs for their encore, starting with Nic doing an acoustic version of ‘Shine On’, the band then came out to play ‘Seventeen’ and ‘Rip it up’.
Jet are a great band who have a good balance of rock songs with catchy riffs to the more slower melodic sounding songs which makes seeing them live a wonderful experience. At the end of the show we managed to buy their new single ‘Hurry Hurry’ on vinyl, we were lucky to get one of the limited signed version to add to our ever growing collection.

We had such a fantastic night, and it was great to see Jet (again for St. Jimmy) hopefully it will be a lot sooner than 15 years we see them again!
St. Jimmy and Rex 🖤☠️
