Review

This track launches the listener into an exhilarating ride with a drum beat that hits like a plane taking off as soon as you press play. If you think you’re going to get chance to catch your breath that would be an incorrect assumption. Paired with the almost whisper like vocals, the result is magnetic.

It’s evident from my very first listen of the song that the musicians possess bags of talent. The impressive drumming previously mentioned, powerful guitar riffs that all have their place in the song located perfectly. Not to forget a prominent bass throughout perfectly integrated, which is something I always seek out in music.

Let’s not forget her voice either, flowing as smooth as butter, over the entire production. The chorus is incredibly catchy, and let’s be honest, that’s what most people tend to remember about songs, so this definitely earns some major points.

The pace of the song is not only impressive but showcases how they generate momentum as well as how they maintain it throughout. It creates a seamless musical experience, where even the transitions to and from the chorus don’t disrupt the flow or slow things down.

If I had to pick somewhere where the song falters a bit…it’s the lyrics, which can come across as somewhat forced. For instance, the inclusion of the word “arrival” early on feels awkward and doesn’t quite fit syllable wise. Additionally, in places I feel it alters the vocal delivery  pulling me out of the listening experience ever so slightly.

This is really impressive overall; I’d love more of the intense harsh vocals at the end. One thing’s for certain: I’ll definitely be keeping a close watch on the progress of this Brighton-based band. See you on the other side, Sypha!
