I’m going to go with 1992, maybe 1993. Dates are so not my specialty.

I’ve been absent from commenting on other posts for a few months… decided to come back to this today and see what I was missing…

I really don’t know… except I have a vague memory of first getting into classic rock in my mid-teens, and being a little confused because that was around the time Bad Company’s Holy Water album was out, and it sounded so different from their older stuff (because Paul Rodgers wasn’t the vocalist on that album, but I didn’t know that history because back then you couldn’t just go look something up). So, remembering what time in my life that was, I’d guess around 1991… however, 1991 was also the year that Seattle grunge music exploded, and there’s no mention of that here, so are you trying to be tricky, or was that more of a US thing and you’re writing from a UK perspective, or am I way off? I don’t know. I’ll just leave it at that.

First of all welcome back to commenting Greg! 🙂

Secondly you’re very close with your answer , I know we can be tricky little fox’s here at FRR… but in this case there might be a reason why we didnt mention any grunge and its not because we are being mean 😉

So if I’m close but there’s a reason you didn’t mention grunge, it’s probably slightly earlier than my guess, like 1990 or 1989?

I am embarrassed to say that the only clue that remotely offers any context for me is about Sting joining the “Four Horseman.” 🤣 I feel like that should disqualify me. I did listen to The Verve though. I blame my little brother for forcing me to watch “wrastlin’” with him. I don’t know the exact year but late eighties/early, early 90’s (1989/1990) would be my best guess based on our grades in school.

That 100% should not disqualify you! Its why i added it as it gave me joy haha!

One of those guesses is correct 😉

I have never heard of any of these, so I’m going to make an uneducated guess.
1984? (This is probably way off.)

The tip-off to me was the inclusion of the Bad Company song in the clues. That album came out during my sophomore year of high school (1990-1991 school year), and I remember hearing the song “Holy Water” on the radio in the latter part of 1990.

Things go better with rock in 1990.. I wasn’t quite deep into the rock n roll of the time. Sure I watched MtV when I could but around this time I was focused on the news with Desert Storm.
