It’s the time of the week that we highlight one of our favourite new releases. This time its Zwolfkinder by Heat Death Paradox. Read a little about the song in the band’s own words. Then, listen to it once or fifty times!
Song Background Information
Album cover designed by Tob, our Guitar player, based on a book he got in Bulgaria. Our album and song titles are inspired by “Gravity’s Rainbow” by Thomas Pynchon.
HEAT DEATH PARADOX is a instrumental ambient doom band from Greenville SC, and Zwolfkinder is the single off of our first album “00000” released December 13th. The band consists of two guitar players, Josh and Tob, Abe on bass and synth, and Scott on drums. When we formed the band, we discussed what hopes we had for the band. From the brainstorm we got “pedalboards that look like spaceships…long instrumental songs with heavy riffs giving way to spacy solos and beautiful interludes that build energy towards crushing glacial climaxes.” It took a few months of writing to find our sound, and Zwolfkinder was the first song that really sounded like our goal. Our entire writing process changed afterwards.
We enjoy the challenge of writing instrumental music that can be both brutally heavy and accessible to listeners of all tastes. We’ve been inspired by a ton of awesome bands including ISIS, Pink Floyd, Bongripper, Sunn O))) and Mouth of the Architect. We’ve played shows in SC and NC and have felt right at home sharing the stage with punk bands, death metal bands, and fellow doom bands. We hope to continue to grow in 2025, including video release, a summer tour, and record our second album.
Check out our album “00000” on all services, and keep an eye on our socials for summer tour dates.
