New Rock Roundup
Rock
Citizen – Nail In Your Hand.
I really love the distortion on this tune. With the vocals really have grit about them.
Special Mention: The Bends – Virginia.
Metal
Tulip – Arabella.
Sometimes you find a brand new band that you become obsessed with. This is the case with Tulip! The Texan symphonic metal trio BRING IT.
Special Mention: Rivilin – University Telephone Hotline.
Metalcore
Fit For A King – Begin The Sacrifice.
I am a big fan of how they use electronic elements in their brand of metalcore. Clean vocals are genuinely beautiful which combines well with the cracking lyrics. Harsh vocals are effective and the anguish in the song is evident.
Special Mention: Thousand Below – Kerosene.
Punk
Sprints – Descartes.
I am a sucker for female vocals on punk songs… This song is a big of an earworm too being surprisingly catchy for a punk song!
Special Mention: Durry – Bully.
Pop Punk
Laylow – 24 HR Service.
I really enjoy the deep groove to this song when combined with the pop punk style vocals. Its also really damn groovy too. These guys are going to be huge!
Special Mention: Anti Blue – 4Ever.
Alternative
Wet Leg – Davina McCall.
The vocals on this track are sublime, I think I am becoming a bit of a Wet Leg fan after ignoring them for years…
Special Mention: Aries – In The Flesh.
Indie
Lord Huron – Bag Of Bones.
This goes against the usual songs I listen to , but I like the otherworldly like vibe while incorporating the acoustic guitar.
Special Mention: Zac Farro – My My.
