Tell Me What Your Dream Rock Festival Line Up Would Be?

I think I’d like it to be a small affair , you know one of those festival which sell out in seconds as only 20,000 people can attend.

It would be an intimate show with only 5 bands on the line-up. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Deep Purple. It’d Made up entirely of bands I haven’t managed to see yet or for obvious reasons never will. Below are those bands and a song for each to enjoy. I want to know though who would make your festival line up? Let me know in the comments!

Led Zeppelin – Whole Lotta Love (All Rights Are Retained By Led Zeppelin)
Pink Floyd – Comfortably Numb (All Rights Are Retained By Pink Floyd)
Queen – Don’t Stop Me Now (All Rights Are Retained By Queen)
The Rolling Stones – Start Me Up (All Rights Are Retained By The Rolling Stones)
Deep Purple – Smoke On The Water (All Rights Are Retained By Deep Purple)

Open with “Tom Sawyer” by Rush. Follow with “Back in Time” by Huey Lewis and the News. 3rd act twist is “White Rabbit” by Jefferson Airplane. Calm things down with “Angela” by Bob James. Finish with the emotional “The Boxer” by Simon and Garfunkel.

Yuck, that’s too many people for me. I’d rather listen to a busker on the street doing covers any day.

I love your choices! For me I’d have Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, the Stones, Wishbone Ash, Deep Purple. Far too much great music out there to decide on who, so that’ll do. 😎

That’s a great line up! I’ve seen the Stones and it was a great show (Living Color opened for them).

There are so many bands I’d love to see live. Off the top of my head I’d go with:

    Neil Young

Pink Floyd (or David Gilmour solo)

    Jimi Hendrix

    Black Sabbath

    Jeff Beck

Very interested to hear what the running order for your festival would be. I mean, Queen have to be headliners, right? But wait – how can Zep, the biggest rock band ever, not getting top billing? Well, the Stones would like a word there – and can you imagine Floyd, with all their lasers and whatnot, accepting a daytime slot?

I reckon that, for a festival, you need a clear headliner and a steady build-up throughout the day. And I’d say that part of the joy of a festival is to discover bands you’d never have heard of before. So I’d start the merriment with a local band, then a few random (but good) indie bands collected from Kerrang CDs or whatever – bands like Cecil, who nobody’s ever heard of, but I managed to get three free tracks of and rather like(d).

Then, opening the big names, I’d have The Pixies; short, dirty and punk enough to blaze a 45 min set. Then I think we’d need to stretch with something a bit artier and expansive. Faith No More, perhaps, or even RATM or SOAD. Then back to something poppier (or at least hookier) like… Hmm. Iron Maiden? Or Arctic Monkeys? Then, whichever didn’t go third would go fourth.

I think the headliners would have to be Metallica. Or Floyd. Or… Feck, this is difficult.

Actually, forget all that. This is just for me, right? Okay, screw popularity:

Rev Hammer (I know, no-one’s heard of him except me and his mum)

    The Crimea

    Pixies

    Arctic Monkeys

    Richard Thompson

    New Model Army

    Levellers

Random trivia: Levellers still hold the record for the biggest crowd in Glastonbury history at over 300,000 people

I agree the running order for this one would be a nightmare , but I’d say its for charity and let them decide between themselves haha!

I’d totally go to your festival though 😁
