When finding out that You Me At Six were doing a UK tour, we knew we had to get tickets, especially due to it being their farewell tour! We missed the first release of tickets, but when they announced a 3rd night in our local venue, and on a more accessible day for us we were ecstatic!
We got to Rock City at around 6pm for a 6.15pm start time and were surprised that the queue was still huge with a lot of people already inside, we heard that people had been queueing since 1pm!
Although the fans were definitely dedicated, we found the merch lacking, especially with it being their final tour. We were quite disappointed in what was to offer and decided not to purchase anything.

The first band of the night was Daytime TV, a Scottish alternative indie band that were so surprised that there were so many people in early doors and got to see them, they mentioned how grateful they were before beginning their set with ‘Zombie’
Our favourite song was ‘Block Out The Noise’, with ‘So Sick’ being a close second, they played two unreleased songs ‘Pause’ and ‘AMF’ which we also enjoyed.
Daytime TV had recently released an EP and played a few songs from that during their set, as well as some older songs! After their show they were standing at the merch table so we took the opportunity to chat to them a little and get their signatures on the vinyl we bought!
Next up on the line up was Mallory Knox, a band from a place. Although we hadn’t heard of them before a lot of the crowd clearly had as they were singing along to almost every song!

They have since made their way onto our playlists due to the great performances, our stand out songs were ‘Sugar’, ‘Get Away’, and ‘Better off without you’ the crowd was absolutely jumping throughout the whole set and really got the whole atmosphere energised! We did see them after their set at the merch stand, but due to how popular they were we unfortunately weren’t able to chat to them.
Finally it was time for You Me At Six, a band Rex grew up with and was very excited to see live again, which was on the same date in the same venue but in 2008! They began the set with ‘Room to breathe’ as the whole room exploded with excitement, so much so one fan was knocked over, but after a small pause everything was okay and the music continued!

Although we believe they didn’t play as well as they have before we (and clearly everyone else there) really enjoyed the night, dancing along to their hits ‘Stay With Me’, and ‘Save It For The Bedroom’ where the crowd was insane with jumping and singing. We had to move back a little at this point due to how much the crowd was jumping along.
We finished watching their set from further back in the venue, where we found the sound to be much better and the crowd to be slightly calmer. That was until the encore consisted of ‘Bite My Tongue’, ‘Reckless’, and ‘Underdog’ the whole venue was singing, jumping and enjoying the moment in a chaotic and nostalgic (at least for us) way!
