Today for the first ever Set The Tone With… We are joined by the excellent Nu/Alt Metal band Simbulis! The now four-piece band based in Derby, UK are one of the most exciting bands at the moment! With their debut EP “Everything Is In Its Rightful Place, You Are Meant To Be Here” being released tomorrow I can only see the band reaching new heights!
Set The Tone With
The premise behind this post type is to get an insight into the daily lives of the bands that we love! We have given them some situations to attribute a song to and let us know why that song in particular is perfect!
You can check out the answers the band gave below, as well as jam out to the tunes they picked. Want to listen to the complete collection from this segment? Click the Spotify link below!
What is the perfect song for the gym?
Rob (Drums): For that extra rep, it’s gotta be metalcore. Gravedigger by Architects or anything off Parkway Drive’s Deep Blue album does the job nicely.
What is your go to happy song, when you’re angry or sad?
Henri (Bass): She’s Nubs by NOFX, no matter what mood, this songs always puts a smile on my face.
The perfect song to put on while cooking?
George (Guitar): Oh something to sing along to for sure, it’d be an album by The 1975, specific song, I’d say Oh Caroline.
The wind down song at the end of a long day to get you to sleep?
Anoki (Vocals): Eternal Blue by Spiritbox. It’s serene.
The song by Simbulis that you are most proud of?
Anoki: Any off of the latest Ep. I like Menticide a lot because it’s got style.
George: I think I stepped up my songwriting with this one (Menticide) massively, to me it has everything a song needs and it really encapsulates a listener.
Your all time favourite rock song?
George: Green Day – Jesus Of Suburbia, my favourite band, epic journey of a song, the storytelling when coupled with the music video just had me in a chokehold when I was young, and I never thought about doing anything other than being in a band since then.
The perfect song to set the mood on a date?
George: Stephen Day – Tonight, that whole EP is amazing but this song in particular would definitely set the mood for sure, I haven’t tried to confirm yet, though!
A song by a local band we might not know?
Henri: 1408 by Blight Town, ridiculously good band from Nottingham, musically and vocally it’s fucking spot on.
Honourable Mentions: Cober Mouth – Steride, Idolvein – Logic Bomb, The Sixth Letter – Dead Right, Terminals – Depths.
The perfect pre show song to amp you up?
Rob: (sic) by Slipknot, no question. As soon as that intro kicks in, I’m ready to go.
A great song you think Fox Reviews Rock won’t have heard before?
George: I’m going to say Profiler – Ninety Three, my favourite of theirs, great band, great guys, more people should know about them!
