New Rock Roundup
Rock
DON BROCO – Cellophane.
This song starts off with a cracking riff, interesting vocal styling too. It progresses into a really catchy chorus! Although I personally would not want to breathe through cellophane… The breakdown towards the end is amazing too!
Special Mention: Three Days Grace – Kill Me Fast.
Metal
Beyond The Black – Break The Silence.
I really enjoy the German bands take on symphonic metal! With the instruments going really damn hard but this beautiful voice to completely contrast it. Excellent moments are when it is just her voice standing alone, before the drums come crashing back in!
Special Mention: SKARS – Break Free.
Metalcore
Betrayal Of Caesar – BLOOD.
Something a little bit different this week , with Finland based Betrayal Of Caesar. I prefer their rap like vocals with the harsh. The clean vocals actually let it down a little bit, but there is so much to enjoy with this. Cool name too! But yeah , I’d stick to the harsh screams and rap style and this band could get huge!
Special Mention: Fidelity – Seems Like Apophenia, But Isn’t.
Punk
SKIRT – Sweet.
This song vocally is really interesting with the higher range being really quite melodic. Before this like false chord style sound takes over on the harsher vocals. Either way I like it, but I wish the song was longer!
Special Mention: Thrice – Gnash.
Pop Punk
The Paradox ft Travis Barker – Bender.
If Travis Barker is mentioned it immediately pricks my ears up in anticipation. This is crazy catchy, has the perfect chorus and flows really well. The drumming is obviously absolutely spot on… What I will say is I didn’t know about this band before this collaboration and now they are firmly on my radar.
Special Mention: Bless The Fall ft Story Of The Year – Fell So Hard, Felt So Right.
Alternative
Nova Twins – N.O.V.A.
If you want to dig your teeth into something catchy today , then this is it. On the verge of not being rock at all but i’m going to allow it! With the drum like adding real depth to this track, I dig this! These are another band I don’t know too much about despite having actually listened to them at Download Festival. Albeit from the top of a big wheel! This is my really out there song of the week!
Special Mention: Balu Brigada – Backseat.
Indie
The Vultures – Talk.
Tell me you don’t like this bassline… I do not believe you. The way this song just flows is perfect! It never tries too hard to be what it isn’t, this is chef’s kiss!
Special Mention: The Moss – Darkness.
