What Non-Rock Artist Would You Love To See Release A Rock Song?

I’ll keep this one short today , I think I’d love to see The Weeknd. This is purely because one of my favourite rock covers is a song of his by Saint Asonia.

Saint Asonia – Blinding Lights (All Rights Are Retained By Saint Asonia)

So I think it would be really interesting to see him release a truly kick ass rock song! That is pretty much my entire logic on this one. I want to know though which non rock artist would you love to release a rock song? Let me know in the comments!

I’d love to see Toshiki Soejima – a Japanese Neo-Soul guitarist – take a shot at a rock song. He’s a brilliant soloist and incredibly talented. Even Eric Clapton said he’s a guitarist to keep an eye on.

      Marty the Writer…

I’m almost embarrassed to say this publicly, but I think Post Malone would probably tear it up. I was very impressed with his country songs. Based on that versatility he could pull it off.

Nothing wrong with thinking he could rock out! 🙂 For what it is worth I think he could too 🙂

Now that would be interesting! As a solo artist , or as part of a band ?

Love that song much! 🙂 Although imagine having to be in a band with a voice like that! Knowing you’re never going to be the main attraction!

Since he seems to be a know-it-all Trump. Can’t you just see it and hear it probably hard rock I try and try and no one understand me etc.

Somelinez – I could hear them heading into Korn territory easily and I bet it’d be enjoyable

Taylor Swift. ‘Are You Ready?’ is already NIN with different (actually quite clever) lyrics, and ‘Should’ve Said No’ is properly angry and hints at what she could do. And that’s just her early stuff – she’s grown weirder as she’s matured and I could really see her getting aggressive. I mean, I know ‘collaboration with Metallica’ is something of a joke these days but she’d absolutely kill that.

I reckon Arctic Monkeys could be good if they stopped the piano noodling and let rip. Or is that just too implausible?

Oh wow TS with Metallica would be kick ass!

Arctic monkeys decline into the mainstream makes me seriously sad!

I dunno, I respect their shift – it’s good stuff, always interesting. But I can’t say I don’t prefer their older stuff; same with Radiohead, they’ll never beat The Bends to my mind.

Not sure I’d entirely call AM’s The Car mainstream, though. It’s more anti-mainstream, isn’t it? Another AM would be more popular, don’t you think? Also awesome

I like when bands shift to something good (although i appreciate that is 100% subjective!)

Yeah you might well be right with that!

Don’t judge but…Adele. I’d love to hear her vocals on one of those 80’s power ballads with a lot of heavy guitar.
