What Rock Song Would You Wipe From Existence And Why?

For me it is “We Built This City” by Starship. In itself it is actually a rather inoffensive song. Which many people enjoy and sing a long too, myself previously included!

Starship – We Built This City (All Rights Are Retained By Starship)

Actually the reason why I am no longer a fan of the song is because of the annual destruction of a good song by the charity single makers LadBaby. I can now no longer hear the original without this version taking over my head instead and I think it is utter rubbish!

I want to know what song would you erase? Let me know in the comments!

“C’mon Eileen” by Dexy’s Midnight Runners. Vomit-worthy song. Every time I’m unfortunate enough to hear it, I have to bleach my ears. 🤮

Anything by Poison, but Unskinny Bop if I had to choose.
The topic reminded me of this clip by Warrant singer Jani Lane on Cherry Pie:

it just seemed like they watered down the hard rock genre along with the other bands trying to emulate Motley Crue.

Not quite what you asked, but in the absence of anything else I’d like to lose ‘The Story of the Hare Who Lost His Spectacles’ from the middle of Jethro Tull’s ‘ A Passion Play’. I get why it’s there, but I find it irritating and hate it. 😐

I’ve got it on there, but the ads mess things up. I’m going to see if I can get it on my Amazon Prime music, which doesn’t have ads, and see if I can do that. Ian Anderson wouldn’t approve though, lol. 🙂 🙂

“old type of rock and roll” by bob segar. I hate this song with my whole soul. It is played so much on the radio I immediately turn it off at the beginning now. i think if you play any song repeatedly , it just loses its meaning and any kind of goodwill or good feelings you might have held for it in the past.

Yeah totally get the issue with songs being over played. There are plenty that I initially liked then grew to not enjoy because of that.

My friend loves The Beatles like crazy but he couldn’t stand the song “Come Together”. I mentioned this to my Beatles-loving wife and she says she isn’t a fan of “Rain”, to my surprise. I love Queen but I could do without hearing “We Will Rock You” ever again.

I liked it a lot when it first came out. But it is so overplayed and really it’s not even a song, just a chant and a guitar solo.

I don’t like many artists like I love the Beatles. lol ..Isn’t that weird. I saw The Beatles Love show circus de soleil in Las Vegas and I cried because it was soooo beautiful. I knew every word to every song and what order there were in. There are many groups that I listen to but nothing compares to the Beatles. I just get them. Now it’s permanently closed and I am looking for another favorite show.

Who’s your favorite group or artist?

If Last Christmas by Wham counts as rock, then that one. It’s so banal and repetitive, and it has nothing to do with Christmas.

If that doesn’t count as rock, then Basket Case by Green Day. I know that’s an unpopular opinion, but I’ve never liked Green Day. I’ve always found Billie Joe’s voice to be annoying. And this one seems even more annoying than most.

Radio: “Do you have the time–“
    Me: “Nope!” *changes channel*

Both songs I mentioned are also irritatingly overplayed even decades later, and both of them make me physically uncomfortable.

I agree, it is a classic, I’ve just personally never liked it.

I know someone who is in a band (not anyone famous, just the local band) who says that everyone has that band that they’re supposed to like but they don’t. Mine is Green Day. (His is U2.)

I feel conflicted about this in the sense that my main blog on here is a nostalgic continuing story set in the 1990s with a lot of pop culture references, but the fact that I’ve never mentioned Green Day makes it seem inaccurate and unrealistic. So I have it set in my mind that my story takes place in an alternate universe where Green Day never got big, and someday, probably when I’m ready to end the story, I’ve even thought of a way to address that within the story.
