It’s the time of the week that we highlight one of our favourite new releases. This time its Kaktus by The Big Rip . Read a little about the song in the band’s own words. Then, listen to it once or fifty times!
Band Information
When everything ends, The Big Rip begins.
From the ashes of collapsing galaxies, the music rises like a dark tidal wave of riffs — the sound of the universe’s final breath.
For us, stoner rock is the closest we get to drifting freely through the void, caught between stardust and the infinite darkness. The genre thrives on heavy grooves and hypnotic riffs, and The Big Rip carries this legacy with pride — while forging our own cosmic signature.
The Big Rip was born in November 2021, in a world locked down by a pandemic. Too much free time, fading morale, and closed doors led us into the rehearsal room — our own portal to creative escape. There, the band evolved from raw, earthbound riffs inspired by grave diggers and Scottish cannons, to embracing extraterrestrial deities and the universe’s most epic tales.
The Band:
Danny Valle Johannessen -Vokal
Eivind Dalevoll – Gitar
Ole Jørgen Kjørholt – Gitar
Mats Bredesen – Bass
Simen Lunde – Trommer
Song Background Information
Desert rock groove about a lonely cactus losing its mind under the sun. Heavy grooves, sharp hooks, and existential plant problems.
