There will be a brief explanation about why I (Fox) enjoy the song in question from each category before I rank them at the end in terms of my own preference. I would love to hear your own person ranking as well as why you agree with or disagree with my comments.

New Rock Roundup
Rock
Hayley Williams – Parachute.
The perfect way to float into a new week safely! Her solo work and later Paramore might have been unrockified a fair amount but there is still more than enough to enjoy here. Any excuse to include Hayley though as shes my childhood crush! The song has pop like melodies but with really great riffs behind it.
Special Mention: The Beths – Straight Line Was A Line.
Metal
Thrice – Albatross.
There is a delicious bass line to start this song, when paired with the vocals it is quite the combo. The rhyming at times might be somewhat simplistic but that doesn’t take away the real cohesive feel the entire band produce here.
Special Mention: Brainstorm – The Boys Of Summer.
Metalcore
Miss May I – Pray For Silence.
Lets be honest who at least once has not wished for complete silence. Obviously it is a song so they don’t provide that. But what they do give the listener is almost rap like harsh vocals with a real melodic soft vocals to go alongside it. With a touch here and there with electronics its interesting!
Special Mention: Annisokay – My Effigy.
Punk
Pinkshift – Blood.
I really like the vocal delivery on this song, its not hardcore punk but for sure it deserves the punk title. Especially on those chorus tones whoa I was not expecting that!
Special Mention: Gut Health – Beat To Beat.
Pop Punk
Cwby/ Heydukeyousuck – CRASH OUT.
I like the unique twist they have put on this song with the combination of what makes pop-punk so cool and country! Yes you read that right…
Special Mention: See You Smile – Cheers .
Alternative
ALEXSUCKS – The Headache.
Sometimes all we really need is a fun, playful and breezy song to get us through the day. Nothing about this song takes itself seriously and that whistle is going to stick with me for a while!
Special Mention: White Reaper – Blue 42.
Indie
The Criticals – Keep Me High.
Indie really has a way to create earworms, this song has about 4 of them… Try it out and let me know what you think. The bass line, and the guitar solo also set this apart from other Indie tracks I have heard this year let alone this week!
Special Mention: Pynch – How You Love Someone.
