New Rock Roundup Vol 15

This is our brand new weekly feature (Normally) on a Monday! The New Rock Roundup will rank the latest releases spanning across the world of rock music. With entries from rock, metal, metalcore, punk, pop punk, alternative and indie!

There will be a brief explanation about why I (Fox) enjoy the song in question from each category before I rank them at the end in terms of my own preference. I would love to hear your own person ranking as well as why you agree with or disagree with my comments.

New Rock Roundup

Rock

Damiano David ft Albert Hammond Jr – Cinnamon.

A band that I am sort of gutted is currently exploring other projects in Maneskin! Thankfully vocalist Damiano David is producing some excellent solo tracks. This one is so catchy it is kind of annoying after a while. Annoyingly great! Also the guitar solo on the track is epic. Add a little spice to your days listening.

Metal

Future Palace – Cyclone.

These were the headliners when I went with Cozzer to go and see Seven Blood. Man was that a great gig! I like the bands use of electronics to create this sound that belongs on an advert for a quiet lake holiday. This is backed up by beautiful vocals before completely shattered by the harsh ones… This is a band you should know and if you don’t you should.

Metalcore

Todd Barriage – Ace Of Spades.

So this is my favourite song of ALL TIME… So these guys really did need to do a good job in order for me to like it first of all let alone add it here. I enjoyed it because they added an extra emotional layer to the song, as well as thinking the harsh vocals were different. Lemmy still rules though! On a side note his harsh vocals remind me of early Bring Me The Horizon.

Punk

Teenage Bottlerocket – Ready To Roll.

I really appreciate the bass heaviness in this song, the singers vocals to me sound a little bit like Danzig too which is never a band thing! With technical brilliance too especially on that guitar solo this isn’t punk as you know it , but man is it good!

Pop Punk

Coheed And Cambria – Key Entity Extraction VII – Yuko The Trivial.

If you like your pop punk with a high voice then these guys are PERFECT for you! The voice is so beautiful in parts that it makes you feel every damn word. These guys are a solid favourite of Rex, and I am starting to see why!

Alternative

Psychedelic Porn Crumpets – Salsa Verde.

Any excuse to share this bands music with the world! I was originally going to stick this in the punk category but I think alternative best fits this song. With the psych edge the band are known for but I think a little bit more ferocious than usual! The heavy riff to start things off really sucked me in.

Indie

Will Paquin – Orangutan.

This is a little bit of a wildcard. You’re going to sit on both sides of the fence of this one. Parts of it are excellent, and the other parts weird. But the best thing about music is that which part that is will completely depend on who you are… Also who doesn’t love a song named after those adorable orange apes!
