A-Z Of Rock: D Part 1

Welcome to our weekly alphabet themed rock post! In this post we will talk about a specific letter of the alphabet and associate it with all things rock music!

This will include a band with that letter, a song as well as a rocker. There is an accompanying playlist so that the selected songs can be enjoyed! Click the Spotify link below and remember to save it!

Band

Man do I give Deftones a hard time! They are probably the biggest band that I don’t “get”. That being said this is a straight up tune! It has that gritty underbelly, while still managing to maintain this melodic edge. But please never make me sit through a set from them ever again! Bored.

Deftones – Change (In The House Of Flies) (All Rights Are Retained By Deftones)

Song

There is just something about this song that I love. I think it might be how light it feels. It is so damn upbeat and I never get tired of it. The chorus also has this delicious rawness to it compared to the rest of the vocals which makes it standout. Helping it is that addictive keyboard and excellent work on the guitar!

Stereophonics – Dakota (All Rights Are Retained By Stereophonics)

Rocker

The woman my wife is named after! (True story)… Debbie Harry has one hell of a voice, and elevated Blondie pretty much single handed into the limelight. This particular song I think shows not only her full vocal range, but also the attitude she packs into songs!

Blondie – Call Me (All Rights Are Retained By Blondie)

I had the biggest crush on Debbie Harry back in high school. The singer, not your wife! 🙂

I think part of her allure was she was part punk, part glamour. And like you note, she has a hell of a voice. The band was great, as well, and they had a good – if short – run of great albums.
