New Rock Roundup
Rock
AFI – Ash Speck In A Green Eye.
I honestly would not have been able to tell you this was AFI if didn’t already know! It is so much more upbeat than their normal tunes. I like the change in pace, it feels almost 70s like in nature too. So if you like that era check this out.
Metal
Megadeth – Tipping Point.
Screw it this weeks metal tune is thrash infused! Megadeth are absolute mammoths in the Metal scene and this song is much better than I was expecting.
Metalcore
Fit For A King ft Chris Motionless – Witness The End.
There is no getting away from it, the aggression in these vocals are not going to be most peoples cup of tea. But I like the contrast between that and the vocals from Chris Motionless (Motionless In White). If only 5% of people like this song then I’d be happy! Please check out the incredibly technical guitar work at play too.
Punk
Upchuck – New Case.
This doesn’t feel like a typical punk song, but the driving bass and chilled out vibe tickles my fancy!
Pop Punk
First Time Caller – No Hard Feelings.
This gives me major early Blink 182 vibes mixed with a little bit of Sum 41.
Alternative
Talk Heavy – Wedding Bands.
I really like when titles of songs can be taken in multiple ways. This is one of those occasions. This is more towards punk than rock , but as its not traditional punk or pop-punk I think it fits the alternative label well.
Indie
Tender Glue – My Sweetest Tone (Time Machine).
This feels like the sort of song an Indie band would sneak in to be edgy and differentiate from the rest of the upbeat songs on their album. Honestly Indie DOES NOT need to be upbeat. Count me in!
