Fox’s Recommendations
This initially starts as a slow burn… Just ambient electronic sounds and a single guitar loop. It builds until the listener gets a cathartic release. The lyrics are about trauma and recovery. This was the song that told the world Foals are more than just dancey punk. This is something the band have done since, but in my opinion never as good as this.
This did something that the band did not do before, fully explore their aggressive side. The opening bass riff could belong in a 90s grunge band. While that scream of “I can’t get enough space!!!” is explosive. I would say this is the song that means Foals could easily headline festivals as this is a real anthem.
Fox’s Wildcard
This song is tucked into the bands Total Life Forever album. But it really is hidden away and many skip over it. However you should not do the same, as it shows off the bands tenderness and rhythmic precision. While it obviously lacks the dynamics of their biggest hits I think it highlights the bands craftmanship and ability for building structure.
