Today for the 13th instalment of Set The Tone With… Sun In Suburbia! The Indie/Alt-rock band live for that DIY attitude. Blending the melancholic vocals with attitude often compared to Fontaines D.C. Songs focus on the anxieties people deal with in British culture.

What is the perfect song for the gym?
‘Back on 74’ by Jungle, I love this track because it has an upbeat sound to it with interesting added cowbells and rhythmic textures to keep interest. A Great song for running.
What is your go to happy song?
Mac DeMarco ‘Turn my TV on’ my perfect song to sit and listen to when I’ve had a bad day, the song is saying I’ve got all these responsibilities but I’ll turn my TV on instead, and I think that is just brilliant.
The perfect song to put on while cooking?
I don’t cook that often, usually air frying job or my girlfriend cooks but when I do I’ll listen to the song ‘Tree Among Shrubs’ by Men I Trust, it’s just consequentially the best sounding indie song I’ve heard.
The wind down song at the end of a long day to get you to sleep?
Before bed I’d put on some dreamcore type sounds like ‘snowfall’ by Øneheart slowed and with reverb version. Something about it just sounds familiar in the most comforting way, it also sounds like a PlayStation menu song.
The song by Sun In Suburbia that you are most proud of?
Our new single ‘Emergency Exit’ is a song I am the most proud of by us Sun in Suburbia, me Dom and Patrick all spent a lot of time recording layers in his flats stairwell in Hyde Park, Leeds. Which gives more credence to the songs meaning of that feeling of being trapped with no way out.
Your all time favourite rock song?
‘School’ by Nirvana, raw, authentic real and sounds dirty, and seemingly very DIY which we love and take influence from.
The perfect song to set the mood on a date?
Cant say a specific song but the album ‘ten days ‘ by Fred Again comes to mind straight away, the first track ‘.one’ is very easy to listen to and inviting.
A song by an amazing local band we might not know about?
‘Red Summer’ by the Dulakes is a great tune, they are supporting our upcoming gig at the Lending room in Leeds on the 26th of September !
The perfect pre show song to amp you up?
‘Bug’ by Fontaines D.C absolute banger, gets everyone in the room ready for a good night of drinking on the town.
A great song you think Fox Reviews Rock won’t have heard before?
‘Right Now’ by Deeper Sleeper , great tune and the lyrics are even better. All self produced by Josh Harmon the lead singer of the backseat lovers which have some of the best rock tunes I’ve heard.
