Albums Of The Year 2025 – 19 – The Wytches – Talking Machine

Fox Reviews Rock - Albums Of The Year 2025

It has been a great year in the realms of all things rock! What better way to celebrate the brilliant new releases of 2025 by counting down our favourites.

Band Background

Brighton based rock band The Wytches blends psych rock with garage and indie. Featuring plenty of reverb it’s not only gritty but also feels dark. The band combine heavier tones with their older influences to create something new and refreshing.

What’s Good About This Album

They returned back to the live in studio approach for this one! Something they haven’t done since their debut in 2014. It is a celebration of imperfection which I feel really showcases their type of psych rock. There are heavy moments, and moments that make you think. Both are fantastic.

Favourite Tracks

Straight out the gates with a fuzz infused surf rock feel. Heavy bass you can feel in your chest and raw vocals give this a gritty rock feel. The ideal lead single has a commanding rhythm and an undeniable energy.

The Wytches – Black Ice (All Rights Are Retained By The Wytches)

The song starts of with this middling beat before erupting into something quite intense. It feels like they cared more about proving authentic rock is alive and kicking than being perfect. A middle finger to the modern day perfection and AI life.
