This is our brand new weekly feature (Normally) on a Monday! The New Rock Roundup will rank the latest releases spanning across the world of rock music. With entries from rock, metal, metalcore, punk, pop punk, alternative and indie!
There will be a brief explanation about why I (Fox) enjoy the song in question from each category before I rank them at the end in terms of my own preference. I would love to hear your own person ranking as well as why you agree with or disagree with my comments.

New Rock Roundup
Rock
Payton Parish – Word Of God.
I have absolutely no idea why but this reminds me so much of Disturbed! That is 100% intentional and it works, Payton’s vocals are sublime as always and if you haven’t heard of him before give him a look over!
Metal
Poppy – Guardian.
I discovered Poppy due to her song with Amy Lee and Courtney LaPlante . Since that moment I have been a fan. It’s got this light yet evil feeling about it which is odd but it makes my ears happy! It is odd that the chorus is actually harder instrumentally but it works.
Metalcore
Constellations – Liquid Memory.
I really enjoy the ambient sounds they have included in this song. It always makes me laugh when bands list these niche subgenres in this case “Dark Pop”. Its metalcore with pop punk influences. The chorus is catchy because of that and when the harsh vocals hit it creates the needed counter balance.
Punk
Last Hounds – Just Play.
The drums and guitar create such a cracking driving rhythm here. As far as punk goes this is maybe slightly more melodic than usual. So perhaps it doesnt fit too neat into this category. But its my segment so i’ll do what I want!
Pop Punk
Boys Of Fall – I Hope It Hurts.
Pop punk has this reputation for always being happy. I think its because on the rock spectrum its typically the most bouncy. This is a song that hides the sad reality of the lyrics in the way it is delivered. I love that.
Alternative
Bullet Dolls – The Puppy Song.
Man this band frustrates me! They are absolutely impossible to get hold of to talk to… I want to feature them on the site so much but the contact details are nowhere to be seen. I love the flow of the vocals on all of their songs, and this is a hit as far as I am concerned from their debut album that they just released.
Indie
The Wombats – Love You Like A Rainbow.
This is from their new album! The Wombats keep finding ways of putting out catchy fun monster songs. This will get in your head, so unless you want indie music to be the theme of the day DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS. Only joking, but this is seriously good.
