Fox’s Recommendations
This song starts out with a tender underbelly disguised by the heavy riffs and harsh vocals. However if you delve a little deeper the heartfelt lyrics come to the surface. The song is about singer Austin Carlile’s mother. This is grief in song form, heart-breaking and immensely powerful. The bands melody and scream style to me at least mimics the memory of a loved one and rage that they are no longer there.
A major shift in the bands style and sound to a more accessible hard rock picture. The riffs are not as heavy and the verses are much more melodic. Chorus wise you’re going to sing along to this. This shows the bands maturity and evolution even if I do miss the older edge just a little!
Fox’s Wildcard
If you have not heard of the band before and are listening to them for the first time through this post I bet you did not see this acoustic song coming. It is the closing song on their 2011 album and strips away all those screams to reveal the singers vulnerability.
