It’s the time of the week that we highlight one of our favourite new releases. This time its Payday by Goo. Read a little about the song in the band’s own words!
Song Background Information
‘Payday’ is the first single from the upcoming debut album by UK indie rock band Goo. The track was recorded at converted chapel ‘The Nave’ in Stanningley, UK, with producer Andy Hawkins. The song is a tongue-in-cheek reaction to the frustration of attempting to keep up with the pace and expense of modern living.
The album will be released in Spring 2026 and the band will tour the UK and Europe throughout the year. Goo will promote the single with a sold out tour opening for Marmozets in December 2025 and January 2026.
‘Payday’ is bolstered by two exclusive b-sides. Track 2 ‘Desiderium’ is the second song the band ever wrote together which was recorded during the album sessions. Track 3 is a cover of ‘What Do I Get?’ by the Buzzcocks which was recorded by the band at their rehearsal space and mixed by James Bragg.
