A-Z Of Rock: X Part 1

Welcome to our weekly alphabet themed rock post! In this post we will talk about a specific letter of the alphabet and associate it with all things rock music!

This will include a band with that letter, a song as well as a rocker. There is an accompanying playlist so that the selected songs can be enjoyed! Click the Spotify link below and remember to save it!

Band

There is just one bad thing about this punk band… They didn’t put out enough music. Honestly so underrated and its a pleasure to finally share one of their songs. The female vocals, with traditional punk stylings was and is to this day excellent.

X-Ray Spex – I Am A Poseur (All Rights Are Retained By X-Ray Spex)

Song

Canadian rockers Bush do our song this week with the 11 minute long Xanadu so I hope you like long tracks. With electronic elements weaves through it, this transports you to a completely different place. It’s a fun journey too!

Rush – Xanadu (All Rights Are Retained By Rush)

Rocker

This dude is seriously talented. He has the skills on multiple instruments but also can sing too! One of Australia’s favourite artists, yet many outside of Australia have never heard of him. Well if that is you, now you have!

Xavier Rudd – Follow The Sun (All Rights Are Retained By Xavier Rudd)

Back in 2014 (!), I did a series of alphabetical blog posts involving bands who were families. For my then-audience, I picked X, (Exene and John had been married for a time.) Miraculously, all of the links still seem to work! https://www.rogerogreen.com/2014/06/24/x-is-for-x-yes-thats-the-name-of-the-band/

“Xanadu” has always been a favorite of mine, even got me to read and memorize the poem that inspired the song (Kubla Khan, by Coleridge). Who says rock music isn’t educational?!?! 🙂
