Introduction
Canadian rockers The Bloodshots have been carving their name in punk infused grunge for over a decade! Building one hell of a reputation for their live shows. Today we review their latest single “Every Time I Die” which I am led to believe is different to the previous songs I might have listened to by them…

Review
Kicking things off with cycling riffs, the guitar quickly power slides into the main body of the track. That is where the drums come in. While they bring nothing overly complicated, they perfectly complement the vocals. It is a case of restraint working in the song’s favour for sure, driving the momentum but not overwhelming it.
From a vocal standpoint, I am reminded of The Offspring on this song, especially in the delivery. It is melodic, quick, and packed full of energy. It keeps that feeling of fun too. It is at odds with my prior experience with the band, where our previous song of the week, “She Likes to Dance,” was a much more subdued number.
I do, however, think there are moments where lyrically it is too simplistic. Pushing the boat out further could have elevated the song more. On the flip side, the chorus is genuinely interesting, memorable, and stays with you after the song ends. The same can be said for the bass, which took me a few listens to fully appreciate, but by the end I had developed a deep appreciation for it.
“Everytime I Die, You Get The Best Of Me”
I think a hair raising solo (Like in The Bay Blues) or a touch of backing vocals would have pushed this up a couple of notches. The song is firmly, in my mind, between alt rock and pop punk and proves to me that this Canadian band really have a strong foundation to build on. I look forward immensely to hearing more from them.
