How did you come up with the bands name?
We came up with the band name as our frontman Sean has a tattoo of a siren (mermaid) and we just added a Y and turned it into SYRENA.

What is your latest release?
Our new single “Out of the Docks” is a heavy in your face rock song which pays homage to the 90s grunge/ alt-rock scene with distorted riffs and bold grainy vocals. The tune came together really quickly when we were jamming and it was actually our drummer Jack that wrote the guitar riff. We recorded, mixed and mastered the whole song from Sean’s bedroom on his laptop, so the whole thing is bedroom DIY. We think that kept the raw energetic essence of the song and you can really hear each guitar bleeding through your speakers. Defo check it out!
What other songs you would recommend to new listeners?
I would say to start with Chained To The Mast as it’s our first single and catches our sound perfectly.
When can we expect some new music?
Looking ahead, we have a new single coming out in a few weeks that we wrote with another Fife based band, The Castros. It’s a lot more fun and upbeat indie rock style, all the lads from the Castros feature on the track and its pure chaos. It’s due to release on Friday the 13th of March, the same day we headline our SOLD OUT Sneaky Pete’s show in Edinburgh! It’s gonna be a belter!
Who would be your dream collaboration?
Our dream collab would obviously be Oasis as that’s all our favourite band, however being more realistic, I’d love to write with more experimental modern rock bands such as Geese or Wet Leg.
Where can people next catch one of your shows?
We have our sold out headliner in Edinburgh on the 13th March at Sneaky Pete’s, then we are supporting the Castros on their UK tour on the 10th of April in Dundee. We have a few more things in the works for the summer, but nothing is announced yet. Keep an eye!
What is the bands goal for the next 12 months?
Our goal for the next 12 months is to consistently keep releasing and writing new music being as creative and unique as we can. We want to keep smashing out gigs and eventually go on to headline even bigger venues. We also really want to play a festival this year and we’re gonna work hard to make it happen!
