How did you come up with the bands name?
Manuka honey is the most valuable honey in the world, there’s a literal gang war going on over the control of the hives. So that’s what we wanted for our music, something so valuable people are literally willing to die for it!
Where are you from?
UK/Germany
What genre would you class your music as?
Indie rock, Psych rock
For Fans Of?
Primal Scream, T-Rex, The Pixies
Where can people connect with you?
What is your latest release?
SLAVE
From anthemic sing-along, hands-in-the-air choruses to cool-as-you-like verses that are brimming with attitude, Manuka Hive thrust themselves into grizzly glam obscurity with ‘Slave,’ a record that is bound to get any place moving from the get-go. Charlie Phelps’ snarly vocal hooks and addictive lyrics pierce through the fuzzy frenzy of riffs provided by Tom Laffey, whilst the solid, grooving rhythm section of Joel Phillips and Miles Machen complete their signature sound.
What are the songs you would recommend to new listeners?
This is our first single we released, a crowd favourite.
One of a few tracks we demoed up at our remote farm studio near Barnsley, and it’s been our set starter since the day it was born! As soon as that intro starts, you can’t stop! It’s dutty!!
When can we expect some new music?
No set dates, but it is coming!
Who would be your dream collaboration?
Dream collaboration would be with The Black Angels, or Queen of the Stone Age. Their ideas and use of instruments, without going too OTT with effects are envious, along with fantastic production on all their albums.
Where can people next catch one of your shows?
Watch This Space!
What is the bands goal for the next 12 months?
Record the album and secure envious support slots.
What is your message to new listeners?
We’re Sorry!
