New Rock Roundup Vol 37

This is our brand new weekly feature (Normally) on a Monday! The New Rock Roundup will rank the latest releases spanning across the world of rock music. With entries from rock, metal, metalcore, punk, pop punk, alternative and indie!

There will be a brief explanation about why I (Fox) enjoy the song in question from each category before I rank them at the end in terms of my own preference. I would love to hear your own person ranking as well as why you agree with or disagree with my comments.

New Rock Roundup

Rock

Black Oak County – Kill The Pain.

Starting the week off strong with Danish based rock band Black Oak County! The blend classic rock with sludgy and grunge like tendancies. I find their tone just fantastic and this new song is no exception. Take a listen to how great the bass and guitar are on this one… If you enjoy this take a look at our interview with them!

Metal

Karnivool – Animation.

It is not very often I roam into the realms of Prog! But Karnivool are now officially my favourite Prog band. The Aussies recently released their album “In Verses” and boy is it great (You can read our full review here). This song in particular is a real highlight with cracking bass and even better chorus. Keep an eye out for the change ups.

Metalcore

DON BROCO – Nightmare Tripping ft Nickelback.

Ok so I have to admit this is not a band I was expecting to ever add to this section or their featured artist. I don’t know DON BROCO or Nickelback for harsh vocals but this I DIG! This might actually be the best song of the year so far… The mix between those harsh vocals, incredibly deep vocals and a groovy beat throughout, chef’s kiss!

Punk

Dead Pioneers – Nazi Teeth ft Cheap Perfume.

No comment just give it a listen to work out who and what it is about.

Pop Punk

Knox – Go For Broke.

This is pop punk at its very heart. Light, bouncy and easy to listen to! I almost put it into Indie to be perfectly honest, but the vocal flow convinced me this is where it belonged. Let me know if you agree! Think Ed Sheeran in a pop-punk style.(The ginger hair helps…)

Alternative

Kayla The Crow – The Door ft Sannie Fox.

We recently interviewed the incredibly talented Kayla The Crow! This brand new song has a real Spanish like flair to it that I was not expecting at all to be perfectly honest… I love how breezy it is.

Indie

Cardinals – St.Agnes.

Is this folk? Is this Indie? Or is it alternative? You decide! For now all I know is that it is a cracking song…. This is the sort of song you would hear in the background of a quiet café and IMMEDIATELY have to get your phone out to work out who it is.
