This is our brand new weekly feature (Normally) on a Monday! The New Rock Roundup will rank the latest releases spanning across the world of rock music. With entries from rock, metal, metalcore, punk, pop punk, alternative and indie!
There will be a brief explanation about why I (Fox) enjoy the song in question from each category before I rank them at the end in terms of my own preference. I would love to hear your own person ranking as well as why you agree with or disagree with my comments.

New Rock Roundup
Rock
Evanescence – Who Will You Follow.
Amy Lee! Is there really that much more I need to add? Seriously her voice has to be top 5 for rock music ever. Operatic in tone, and when combined with the rest of the band there is a reason why Evanescence have been going for so long. At the top too I might add! This takes all the best qualities of their biggest songs, so this will be VERY popular.
Metal
April Art – Panic Stations.
A genuinely interesting prospect is April Art, with a cracking voice! The band have cemented themselves as one of Germany’s upcoming rock acts and for great reason. This song is catchy and that gravelly tone just does it for me.
Metalcore
The Amity Affliction – Heaven Sent.
At this point Aussie band The Amity Affliction are Metalcore royalty! With real aggression on the harsh vocals and riffs, being completely contrasted by a real angelic clean vocal range. This is their best release in years!
Punk
Western Addiction – The Diamond.
San Francisco based band Western Addiction know how to bring that hardcore energy! In this case though it never feels overly aggressive which means I think a lot of you reading this will enjoy!
Pop Punk
Lina-Mariah – I Don’t Wanna Go!.
If you like your quick paced pop punk then I pretty much think this is a homerun! It doesn’t take itself too seriously and the pop side of things don’t go missing which is a flaw in most pop-punk songs. This vocal flow at times is insane!
Alternative
Hot Glue – Keychain.
Another Aussie band! G’day! The trio might have a melancholic tone but that does not stop the genius of their instrumentals coming through. With well set out songs I can see this band blowing up. If you like your slower paces vocals this is one for you.
Indie
The Strokes – Going Shopping.
This is a really different vibe for our Indie this week! The altered vocals on this track by The Strokes makes this a really odd vibe. But with cracking instruments throughout I could not leave this out at all. It’s got chilled out vibes for dayyyyyys.
