Set The Tone With… Radio Aftermath

Today for the fourth instalment of Set The Tone With… We are joined by Radio Aftermath. The band have vocals that shine bright, when I reviewed their EP it was stuck in my head for weeks! If you like Foo Fighters I think this might be something you’re into. If you’d like to listen to their previous song of the week you can do so here.

Set The Tone With

The premise behind this post type is to get an insight into the daily lives of the bands that we love! We have given them some situations to attribute a song to and let us know why that song in particular is perfect!

You can check out the answers the band gave below, as well as jam out to the tunes they picked. Want to listen to the complete collection from this segment? Click the Spotify link below!

What is the perfect song for the gym?

At the gym, it’s all about lifting, which means it’s all about heaviness. So Cannibal Corpse’s ‘Scourge of Iron’ is usually put on at that point in the workout I need an extra little push to keep things moving.

What is your go to happy song, when you’re angry or sad?

Taking a complete u-turn from our workout, my go to feel good tune is probably Digital Love by Daft Punk. It’s hard to have it on without smiling!

The perfect song to put on while cooking?

I love to cook, and it’s usually at least an hour in the kitchen, which means it’s time for longer post rock jams. If I had to pick one is probably Mogwai’s Rano Pano, but I’m really just picking one of my fave albums and listening to it top to bottom.

Mogwai – Rano Pano (All Rights Are Retained By Mogwai)

The wind down song at the end of a long day to get you to sleep?

This one’s easy, and it’s Xtal by Aphex Twin. His ambient side is beautiful and it’s been in my Spotify rotation since I got Spotify. Beware of leaving him on shuffle though as they will wake you right back up.

Aphex Twin – Xtal (All Rights Are Retained By Aphex Twin)

The song by Radio Aftermath that you are most proud of?

I’m really proud of all of our tunes, but the first one that came to mind is Fetid. It’s got a great riff, big chorus and a cheeky little solo at the end that all meld into a great moshy bop.

Radio Aftermath – Fetid (All Rights Are Retained By Radio Aftermath)

Your all time favourite rock song?

Big question that! Overture 10538 by ELO comes to mind. They’re definitely my favourite ‘rock’ band, and I really could pick so many of their tunes, but this one is just unflappable. It can’t be flapped!

Electronic Light Orchestra – 10538 Overture (All Rights Are Retained By Electronic Light Orchestra)

The perfect song to set the mood on a date?

Depends on the mood I’m trying to set, but a bit of back pocket by Vulfpeck will keep things cheeky and groovy (and it’s a certified banger)

Vulfpeck – Back Pocket (All Rights Are Retained By Vulfpeck)

A song by an amazing local band we might not know about?

Open season by When They Riot. It doesn’t let up and just desperately makes me want to circle pit. They’re also the biggest sweethearts going.

Fox: Actually we know all about When They Riot! We actually reviewed their single Bedlam. You can read it here.

When They Riot – Open Season (All Rights Are Retained By When They Riot)

The perfect pre show song to amp you up?

I think Wish by NIN is my go to, but probably the live version they did with the Dillinger Escape Plan that’s on YouTube somewhere.

Nine Inch Nails – Wish (All Rights Are Retained By Nine Inch Nails)

A great song you think Fox Reviews Rock won’t have heard before?

One of my favourite albums is ‘kicking the national habit’ by grand national who haven’t played together in years. Check out Talk Amongst Yourselves! Hope you enjoy it!
