Set The Tone With… TFNRSH

Today for the next instalment of Set The Tone With… TFNRSH

Set The Tone With

The premise behind this post type is to get an insight into the daily lives of the bands that we love! We have given them some situations to attribute a song to and let us know why that song in particular is perfect!

You can check out the answers the band gave below, as well as jam out to the tunes they picked. Want to listen to the complete collection from this segment? Click the Spotify link below!

What is the perfect song for the gym?

The energy this song represents is just perfect for pumping up your arms! The aggression in Maynard’s voice will make you go the extra miles! Other than that, the Rocky Soundtrack is always a good choice!

Puscifer – The Remedy (All Rights Are Retained By Puscifer)

What is your go to happy song, when you’re angry or sad?

As this song unfolds, it gradually lifts the listener’s mood from a place of quiet heaviness into a warm, hopeful sense of renewal. The perfect song to make you feel good!

The Beatles – Here Comes The Sun (All Rights Are Retained By The Beatles)

The perfect song to put on while cooking?

Also one of our favorites (we even named a song after them) that won’t hit with everybody but will hit with some very, very hard. An insane song with repetitive crescendo guitars (5 minutes? WTF) make sure you’ll fire it up and serve an experimental cuisine that has never been cooked before!

Slift – The Story That Has Never Been Told (All Rights Are Retained By Slift)

The wind down song at the end of a long day to get you to sleep?

A classic by one of the greatest! The sound, Akerfeldt’s voice and the whole mood of the song immediately calms you down!

Opeth – Windowpane (All Rights Are Retained By Opeth)

The song by that you are most proud of?

Probably “Zemestån”; it’s the song that shows the diversity in our music best. Melodies that stick in mind like classic prog songs, Elder-esque riffing somewhere in the middle and post-rock Armageddon a la Mono at the end.

TFNRSH – Zemestan (All Rights Are Retained By TFNRSH)

Your all time favourite rock song?

So hard to choose and we didn’t want to go with the absolute classic masterpieces like Bohemian Rhapsody, Stairway to Heaven, or Freebird. Personally, this PT song is among those greats and perfectly shows off Steven Wilson’s and the band’s mind-bending songwriting capabilities.

Porcupine Tree – Arriving Somewhere But Not Here (All Rights Are Retained By Porcupine Tree)

The perfect song to set the mood on a date?

Probably the best German song ever written! The melancholic & reflective mood turns into a warm, communal energy that makes you want to raise a glass of wine and celebrate together.

Udo Jurgens – Griechischer Wein (All Rights Are Retained By Udo Jurgens)

A song by an amazing local band we might not know about?

Friends of ours who have their rehearsal room in the same building (an old dairy plant).

Doggod – Die Verzkeiflung der Unendlichkeit (All Rights Are Retained By Doggod)

The perfect pre show song to amp you up?

This is the stand-out-song of our best buddies from Düsseldorf who just released a stunning instrumental Spaghetti Western Doom album! We listen to this track before each of our shows; it shifts us into the right live mood and gives us the energy we need to play the show!

Wasteland Haze – Tidal Shapes (All Rights Are Retained By Wasteland Haze)

A great song you think Fox Reviews Rock won’t have heard before?

In our opinion the best modern prog-rock/metal band that (for whatever reason) still flies too much under the radar! They sell out huge locations in Australia for decades now; their record “Sound Awake” must be one of the best prog-rock gems ever created by human being!

Karnivool – Deadman (All Rights Are Retained By Karnivool)
