Introduction
If the name sounds familiar that is because we have reviewed previous songs of Buried In Bermuda “Until We Meet Again” & “Torment“. In addition to this we have also interviewed them and had them take part in our set the tone with feature. So it’s fair to say we are a band we know the music of well. Well we thought that was the case at least. Check out our new review of latest single “Ibuprofen” for surprises and excellent music.
Review
I love how the song starts almost in the distance, slowly moving in the shadows before coming into full view. When the riff and drums arrive fully, boy, are they a picture. The guitar has this incredible sense of depth that really adds meat to the bones of the song, while the drums are nothing short of exceptional.
When they take a bit of a back seat, they only do so to allow the clean vocals to come through. Which on this song possess an almost angelic like quality to them. Obviously, I know the Bristolian band has that particular trick in the locker, but I think this might be the best example of it they’ve put to record so far.
I used the word “clean” before because the band appear to be entering what can only be described as their metalcore era with Ibuprofen. The intense, dark growls see the band treading exciting new ground. I really enjoy the bass being played alongside them, giving the whole section even more weight. Interestingly, this combination of vocal styles offers something genuinely new. But let’s face it, this is a band that knows how to change things up anyway!
I’ll tell you my favourite part of the entire song, though: the bridge.
That change-up not only features backing vocals, but completely different instrumentation leading into a breakdown. Yet somehow, it fits into the song perfectly. BRAVO!
