Review

Talk about a groovy bass line to kick things off right out of the gate! That opening immediately grabs your attention by the collar, and when the guitar comes in following the same melody, it adds some real depth to the sound.

Then come the vocals and they were a genuine shock to the system. I wasn’t expecting them to be that low, especially during the verses. It’s a bold choice that gives the track plenty of character. Even if at times I would like a bit more contrast.

The chorus does however bring a welcome change, with the vocals moving into a slightly higher tone. I think that was needed to give the song a lift and stop it becoming too repetitive.

My one major criticism would be the drums. They feel completely buried in the mix, and it’s only when you deliberately listen for them that you realise how much is actually going on.

But then there is that guitar solo…

It’s so good! Just long enough to enjoy before dropping you back into that ridiculously catchy melody that’s been holding everything together.

You can definitely hear the heavy metal influence, but there’s also a surprisingly strong pop sensibility hidden underneath it all. It’s a combination that really works. This band are definitely one to keep an eye on!
