Review
This track opens with a real rich and deep sound that really makes you scrunch your face, which in this case, is a fantastic thing! When paired with the high speed tempo of the guitar and drums, it creates a solid foundation for the song to build on.
I am familiar with Buried In Bermuda’s sound from my earlier experience interviewing the band, and those clear melodic vocals are not just outstanding but also carefully crafted. However, I was surprised by the inclusion of harsh vocals, yet I appreciated the contrast it adds to their overall sound. I wonder whether this indicates a shift in their musical direction or if they felt it was necessary given the theme of this particular song. At this stage, even enthusiasts of softer rock will enjoy this track, due to how easy it is to work out the lyrics.
That said, it wasn’t long before the inclusion of metalcore -like growls, along with the characteristic bleh, a distinctive sound for that music genre… Personally, I appreciate this style, so my enjoyment of the track only grows. However, I can understand how someone who has liked their earlier work might find it a bit jarring, at least on the first listen.

In the chorus, the clean vocals take the limelight, and I believe this was a smart choice as it adds weight to the words with melodic allure. The backing vocals contribute grit and contrast, which I think rounds the overall sound beautifully.
“Torment , anguish, sickness”.
I need to highlight the drumming in this track; it’s exceptional , particularly in the instrumental section at 2:20. I’m genuinely pleased they incorporated this, and for a good duration as well. It’s important for instruments to have their moment to shine as well as vocals.
In my opinion, the best positioning of metalcore growls is towards the end of the song, right before that incredible guitar solo. I wonder if using them a bit more sparingly would have enhanced their impact. Overall, I appreciate how the vocals were presented in this track in various ways. They effectively convey a genuine sense of pain. As well as the different ways it might manifest.
Final Thoughts
I really enjoy this song, and I believe it adds another string to the Buried In Bermuda bow. Their fans are likely to be excited about the possible new direction, or maybe another weapon stored in the bands arsenal. However, I do feel that the metalcore-style vocals can be somewhat overdone, and some listeners might find them a little jarring. Nevertheless, I personally adore them, so there , get over it!
