These girls have been on tour with some massive bands like “Three Days Grace”, ”Halestorm”, “Foo Fighters” and Muse”. It’s obvious to me that they are destined for the top. This single showcases how their sound is evolving, with hints of Muse shining through. Despite the noticeable change in sound, I believe fans of their earlier work which amassed over 200 million streams will still feel connected as it retains familiar elements.
The group has explained that this track delves into the fear of not having fully lived life, and the driving desire to take risks in the future even if it’s dangerous. This is reflected in lyrics such as “I wanna make mistakes and live in regret” and “If there’s a price to pay, I’ll deal with it when I’m dead”. Speaking of lyrics, I normally find repetitive words to be annoying, however this song’s lyrics of “Kill the silence. Till it makes me feel, till it makes me feel, till it makes me feel sick!” acted as a magnet instead, I found myself listening to this on repeat.
The song’s vocals are spot on, and I particularly like the harmonies in the bridge and the final kick they give at the end of the song. The drums throughout are a presence, which is more than I can unfortunately say about the bass which is too similar to the guitar meaning it gets lost. This track does show a significant improvement in previous song mixes but I still feel there is room for improvement, the symbols of the drum are too soft to make any meaningful impact. Turning up the bass would have had it thumping through the speakers instead of getting lost.
Overall, this song is fantastic, and I’m genuinely interested in this new route they have appeared to take. If you take nothing else from this, then for the love of God take giving a monotonous life the middle finger and live on the edge a little!
