I’d love to know which of these 5 vocalists is your favourite , so please vote in the poll. If your favourite is not here , why not let me know in the comments section so I can add them in future polls and in some of my reviews!

Metal is a sub-genre of rock. So, I guess you’ll be breaking things down into Subdivisions?

Standard rock is dramatically different to what is considered metal. Clearly in the same family of genre but yes ill be splitting them up.

I’m new to your blog and have yet to catch up with all of your posts. I’m glad you hold Dio in high regard.
John Lennon seems a little inappropriate for this poll. He was a great lyricist for sure; but, his vocal quality never reached GOAT status.
I was hoping you would see what I did there in my comment…Subdivisions…Rush reference. That was the point when Alex became disappointed with synths drowning out his guitar.
Good opportunity to go back then haha 😉
I disagree but I guess that’s why we all like different stuff vocally I’d say he was great .
I missed that completely to be fair haha nice one !

I actually lean toward vocals that are ‘different’ such as, Bob Dylan, Dave Mustaine, Janis Joplin, etc. At the same time, I can be aware that only Janis might be considered a GOAT vocalist.
I have a very eclectic taste in music. I like styles from Classical to Slipknot and everything in between. There are only two vocalists that affect me like fingernails on a chalkboard…they are the two singers for AC/DC. To me, they sound like heavy metal Donald Duck. 🤣 But, there are tons of people who like them. So, I am aware taste in music, vocalists, anything artistic for that matter, is very subjective.
Thanks, sometimes, I can be clever 😉
Freddy outright for range on that list. I am curious, what do you think of Geoff Tate, from Queensrÿche in comparison? I think of their live performance of Take Hold of the Flame in Japan as being vocal perfection. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xk84dVq644k
I’d agree on Freddy Mercury!!! However, Geoff Tate is powerful!

Definitely Freddie Mercury. There I was trying to decide on the names of my two cats Freddie and Morticia. Morticia had chosen here name by batting my arm every time Morticia’s name was mentione in The Addams Family movie. I put on my Bohemian Rhapsody DVD and when this song came on Freddie who had been sitting quietly near me and appeared to be watching suddenly perked up his ears. I turned up the volume and he hit all the right high notes along with Freddie Mercury and since Mercury was a cat love that decided the name.
Totally get it, FFR. Please know that I ask you with genuine curiosity and no beef whatsoever. If it said greatest male rock vocalist of all time, that would make more sense to me. I think I put Tina Turner but my God, there are so many other incredible women. Chryssie Hynde and Skunk Anansie, for example.
