Unique Fusion: KO KO MO’s Captivating 70s-Inspired Modern Twist

A fox holding a vinyl cd in a shop. There is a sign reading up and coming bands in the background and headings reading metal and rock in the foreground.

As always with my Tuesday up-and-coming bands posts , I focus on bands with under 500,000 monthly streams on Spotify, hopefully you discover new music along with me on this journey. I’ll be adding 3 songs from these weekly posts to my own Spotify Playlist.

Background Information

Hailing from Nantes, France, this dynamic duo, Warren Mouton and Kevin Grosmolar, form a two-headed hydra (as they like to call themselves). Brace yourself for a high-energy musical journey filled with unexpected twists and turns! Trying to categorize their sound is like trying to catch a slippery fish – it’s a unique blend of electro-hard rock and indie but with a special touch.

KO KO MO – Last Night a D.J Saved My Life (All rights are retained by KO KO MO)

What sets this band apart is their ability to create a truly distinctive sound. While there may be other bands in a similar vein, none quite capture the essence of their music. Since their 2014 EP, “Stole My Soul,” they have been making waves in the French music scene. Drawing inspiration from the 70s and infusing it with a modern twist, their music is a captivating fusion of old and new. Their cover of “Last Night a DJ Saved My Life” which has 3.6 million streams has propelled them to new heights of popularity. Get ready to be blown away by this one-of-a-kind musical experience!

From The Archives: The Beatles – Rubber Soul

“From The Archives” revisits a notable 1965 album by The Beatles that marked their artistic evolution towards a more mature sound. With introspective lyrics and folk influences, the album prioritised cohesion over chart hits. Highlight tracks include “Drive My Car,” “Norwegian Wood,” and “In My Life,” showcasing their innovative storytelling and deep emotional resonance.

A-Z Of Rock: K Part 2

This weekly post features an alphabet-themed exploration of rock music, highlighting a band, song, and iconic rocker. It introduces a lesser-known band, praises Babymetal’s collaboration with Bring Me The Horizon, and pays tribute to drummer Keith Moon of The Who. Playlists are provided for listening enjoyment.

Glaciers & One Last Hail Mary: The Dreamy Sounds Of Sandro Bevilaqua

Sandro Bevilaqua returns with two evocative tracks, “Glaciers” and “One Last Hail Mary,” showcasing his unique sound and emotional depth. While “Glaciers” delivers a dreamy atmosphere, “One Last Hail Mary” offers a richer instrumental experience. Both songs are easy to enjoy, appealing to fans of Folk and Indie music.
