Melissa Bonny is an exceptional metal vocalist from Switzerland. With her versatile mezzo-soprano voice and the remarkable skill to seamlessly transition into death growls at will.
In 2012, Bonny embarked on a new journey by leaving her hometown and joining the Symphonic Folk Metal band, Evenmore. Throughout her time with the band, she achieved widespread recognition in the industry, releasing an EP and a full album. However, in 2018, as the band’s activities came to a halt, Bonny decided to explore new horizons.
Bonny found a new musical home with the trance metal band Rage of Light, where she contributed to an EP and an album before deciding to part ways due to scheduling conflicts. Despite the departure, they remained on good terms. Halfway through her time with Rage of Light, she founded Ad Infinitum, a Symphonic metal band that started as a solo project but later evolved into a full-fledged band with the addition of new members.
While it was still a solo project the debut single “I Am The Storm” was released and later included in the band’s first album “Chapter I – Monarchy“. Other popular singles from the album included “Marching On Versailles”, “See You In Hell”, and “Live Before You Die”.
In 2021, the band unveiled their second album, “Chapter II – Legacy,” which boasted an impressive 55-minute duration! The lead single, “Unstoppable,” quickly gained popularity and became an instant hit. Moving forward to 2023, the band treated their fans to their third album, “Chapter III – Downfall.” While this album carries a slightly heavier tone compared to its predecessors, it still stays true to the symphonic metal genre. The lead single, “Upside Down,” features an incredibly catchy chorus and showcases Bonny’s return to delivering powerful heavier vocals in certain sections.
Alongside Ad Infinitum, Bonny with members of Feuerschwanz and Amaranthe created “The Dark Side Of The Moon.” Signed to Napalm Records and a straight-up metal band, Bonny and the group showcase their versatility and skill throughout their debut album, Metamorphosis. This album not only includes powerful covers like Florence and the Machine’s “Jenny of Oldstones,” but also features incredible hits like “Legends Never Die” and “The Gates Of Time.” Their music captures the essence of Bonny’s full artistic range.
Melissa Bonny is a highly skilled singer who has a knack for switching bands. Despite this, her talent remains undeniable. I believe her willingness to explore different musical avenues only showcases her dedication to growth. Definitely worth checking out!
