Background
Originally named Bree Robinson, Brody Dalle was born in Australia in 1979. Her musical inspirations growing up included Hole, Bikini Kill, and Babes In Toyland. Dalle later met Tim Armstrong, the frontman of Rancid, and they began a relationship before moving to the United States together when she was 18. It was in Los Angeles that she formed The Distillers.
Brody was the guitarist and lead vocalist for “The Distillers” during their active years. The band came together after Dalle crossed paths with Kim Chi (who unfortunately didn’t stick around for long). Their debut album, “The Distillers,” hit the shelves in 2000, setting off a series of lineup alterations for the group. Despite the changes, they managed to release two more albums that achieved significant commercial triumph. Even after the band disbanded in 2006, Brody’s passion for music remained unwavering.
Spinnerette was created alongside Tony Bradley, the sole remaining member of The Distillers. The band’s only release was their self-titled album, which included the hit song “Ghetto Love”. In reality, Spinnerette marked Brody’s transition into solo work, with her biggest solo hit being “Don’t Mess With Me” released in 2014.
The Distillers reformed in 2018 and are said to be currently working on what would be their 4th studio album.

What Makes Her Special?
She has a truly distinctive voice that immediately grabs your attention, with a rich and powerful undertone that exudes confidence. Many other artists have mentioned her as a source of inspiration, creating a full circle effect from her own admiration of musicians like Courtney Love from Hole, such as Becky Blomfield from Milk Teeth. Personally, I will always remember her for her unparalleled sense of coolness, a quality that I’m sure resonates with many others!
