Here we have two of the moodiest bands of all time filling the post-punk scene in the 80s. This feud erupted after comments from The Smiths frontman Morrissey said he would be happy to see Robert Smith dead! Not only that he also called the Cure’s new music”Crap”.. It was only when Smith was called a “Fat Clown in Makeup” that he stood up for himself. Stating that every time the Smiths singer mentioned his veganism he would instead eat meat! Wild stuff!

This one’s easy. It’s The Cure, all the way. Don’t get me wrong, The Smiths have some great songs, but for me, Morrissey is a turn-off. Morrissey’s always been a bit of a prick, but he’s just gotten worse about it with age.

Cure. Morrissey is a huge and complete twit. It ruins listening to his songs for me. He even mistreats his fans, which is unforgiveable. You don’t bite the hand that feeds you.

The Cure, no contest. Like most people (or so I assume) How Soon is Now is really the only song by the Smiths that I like. Was never a big fan of Morrisey’s solo work either. I vaguely remember some of The Cure’s songs as a kid but didn’t take notice of their work until I heard Burn on the soundtrack to The Crow.

Burn is a great song! I don’t think it’s any contest either tbh

I can’t choose, they each have something special going on. I just wonder, why do musicians have to be so unkind to one another…

I don’t like plurals. I like “Baby It’s You” from the lead singer of Smith, Gayle McCormick, from the 1960s A Group Called Smith (1969)

Difficult for me to choose between The Smiths and The Cure as I adore both. If I had to opt for one it would probably be The Smiths, based on Johnny Marr’s guitar sound, which I think is unique and very special.
