As always, with my Tuesday up-and-coming bands posts, I focus on bands with under 500,000 monthly streams on Spotify. Hopefully, you discover new music along with me on this journey. Catch the songs from this in the Fox Reviews Rock Spotify Playlist.
Background Information
Can’t Swim hails from New Jersey, USA, and is a four-piece band. Since their formation in 2015, they have already released four full-length albums. The current line-up consists of Chris LoPorto (Vocals), Greg McDevitt (Bass), Danny Rico (Guitar), and Blake Gamel (Drums).
The band has continuously evolved their sound with each album they release. To me, they’re a unique blend of pop-punk, post-hardcore, and alternative rock.
Every month, Can’t Swim attracts 171,000 Spotify listeners and their hit track “Stranger” has garnered over 12 million streams! They have shared the stage with A Day To Remember on tour and rocked out at festivals like 2000trees.
The band’s music often carries a brooding tone, yet the melodic essence shines through brilliantly. They even teamed up with Caleb Shomo of Beartooth for their track “Set The Room Ablaze” on the 2021 album “Change Of Plans”. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because we reviewed their latest single “Riptide“.

It follows the aforementioned “Change Of Plans,” “This Too Won’t Pass,” and their debut album “Fail You Again.”
