Who do you think is the greatest Rhythm Guitarist in rock and metal music?
I’ll go first. To me it’s got to be the Riff Lord himself, James Hetfield. His fast, chuggy and down right catchy riffs set a standard to me of what a rhythm guitarist should be. To me he is extremely influential and his riffs are certainly a reason why I picked up a guitar for the first time.

I know I’m gonna get shot down for saying that’s why I’m gonna say it anyway John Lennon. Is working the Beatles was phenomenal. I feel like he sort of was underrated as a guitarist you know between Paul McCartney and George Harrison bass and lead guitar respectively.
Also, John had a great mind for experimentation in rock ‘n’ roll. he’s the first guitarist to purposefully include feedback as part of the song when he did the introduction to. I feel fine by the Beatles. Thumbs up the string and put it right up next to the monitor or the amp and it just feeds back perfectly.
Think of how much love that has feedback, I mean, grunge alone is loaded with it and other forms of metal.

I am not so much on which is the best at what, if the music rocks, hell’s bells, but if it sucks, it blows. Music for me is concrete. Take what I was listening to last night, Treblecharger’s 100 Million, that song just makes me feel alive, y’know??

So many to choose from. I liked Ani DeFranco on Out Of Range. Robert Smith of the Cure helped define a genre of sound. Alomar and Lennon plus one on each. Bowie had his own skill… I could go on.
Great question, if hard to weigh in on because of the differences in style and genre.
