Vote for Your Favorite Song: Black Sabbath, Slayer, Rainbow

This is the fifth instalment of a new mini-series of polls – Save A Song! In this series, you choose your favourite song of the three listed and save it by voting for it and discussing it in the comments section below.

That song is then saved! Whereas the other two unfortunately are the losers and get deleted from existence… Okay, so not really, but you get the picture. Here, you are voting for the song that you would want to still exist!

After a few weeks of these polls, there will be a final poll of all the winners to choose the grand champion song!

Sometimes the poll does not show for everyone so the options are;

  • Black Sabbath – Paranoid
  • Slayer – Angel Of Death
  • Rainbow – Stargazer

Albums Of The Year 2025 – 7 – Spiritbox – Tsunami Sea

The Canadian band Spiritbox has made a significant impact in the rock scene with their second album, blending Metalcore and Djent. Their sound features powerful riffs and emotionally charged lyrics, highlighted by LaPlante’s dynamic vocals. Standout tracks include “Soft Spine” and “Perfect Soul,” showcasing both energy and haunting melodies.

Set The Tone With… Allium!

In the 15th episode of “Set The Tone With…”, the alt rock band Allium from Bristol shares insights into their musical preferences and daily lives. Guitarist Tom discusses songs for various moods, including workout anthems and cooking tunes, while highlighting their own proud releases and favorite local bands.

From The Archives: 60s Vol 5 – The Byrds – Mr. Tambourine Man

The feature “From The Archives” revisits influential albums, focusing on a debut that merged folk and rock in the 1960s. Highlighted for lush harmonies and impactful songwriting, it faces criticism for repetitive chord progressions and numerous Dylan covers. Notable tracks include “Mr. Tambourine Man” and “I’ll Feel A Whole Lot Better.”

My sentiments exactly word for word

All day long, I think of things
    But nothing seems to satisfy
    Think I’ll lose my mind
If I don’t find something to pacify

    Go Black Sabbath

Sabbath is the only band I like on your list. I’m not familiar with the song, but I’m going to say Black Sabbath anyway 😎

I’m not really into the other bands so I can’t really pick.

We must preserve ‘Paranoid’ (clears throat and adopts a pompous tone of voice) on account of its significance in the development, and popularising, of heavy metal. I would argue that Black Sabbath (band and album) was where metal, as opposed to blues rock, acid rock etc., really began. And this track from their second LP got to number 4 in the UK charts! Okay, Deep Purple got to number 2 the same month (October 1970), but ‘Black Night’ had a bit of prog about it while Paranoid was more in the way of ‘pure’ metal.

‘Paranoid’ was the first album I ever bought, so I’d have it kept on those grounds alone. 🙂

I’d love to say Slayer, but the answer is Sabbath, especially if the song is Paranoid.
