Headline News
Exciting news for Linkin Park fans! The band has officially returned, introducing their new lead singer, Emily Armstrong from Dead Sara. Additionally, they’ve welcomed talented songwriter and drummer Colin Brittain into the fold.
News of a new single emerged too with the release of “The Emptiness Machine.” This track will serve as the lead single for their upcoming album. “From Zero” is set to drop on November 15th.
This upcoming album marks Linkin Park’s first release since “One More Light” in 2017. It is notably their first project to come out after the passing of Chester Bennington.
In celebration of their new album, the band is setting off on a six-date world tour. They will hit major cities like New York, London, Hamburg, Seoul, Bogota, and Los Angeles! They kicked things off with a live-streamed performance on Thursday. Fans can catch the recording on Linkin Park’s online channels for the next 24 hours.
The latest album strikes a balance between nostalgia and innovation, reflecting both the past and the future. Originally named Xero, the band draws inspiration from its roots while embarking on new musical journeys with this release.
Shinoda expressed that the band feels “Empowered” with their fresh lineup, describing the new music as “Energized” and “Vibrant.” Fans can grab pre-sale tickets for the tour through the LP underground club starting September 6th. General sales kick off on September 7th.
Personal Views
Honestly, my first reaction is to commend them. Overcoming the loss of such a vital band member is an incredibly tough challenge. They truly deserve all the recognition for their resilience. Plus, I believe Emily is an amazing vocalist; I’ve always admired her talent in Dead Sara.
I believe it would have been better for Linkin Park to have been put to rest. They should have introduced this new project without any connections to past songs or memories. It would allow the new music to shine on its own. Yet, with the lingering ties to Linkin Park, I find it hard to fully support this direction. In my view, I hope to be proven wrong. It feels like it has just turned into a cover band.
Additionally I hope this does not mean the end of Dead Sara. To be honest, they are truly a fantastic band in their own right.
