Discover Death Cab For Cutie’s Northern Lights Song

I live in the middle of the United Kingdom. This means I’d never seen the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) in my native country. I had earlier seen them in Iceland twice. Still, seeing them in your own back garden is special!

To mark the really damn cool occasion, I thought it’d be great to have a post on the site. So I hope you enjoy this little gem from Death Cab For Cutie.

O, boy. I haven’t thought of Death Cab For Cutie in at least a decade. What a throwback! I wonder why I never before thought about their band name’s origin story, but now I can’t stop wondering what it means. (I’m sure whatever that story is is common knowledge and I’ll look like a dweeb for even mentioning it.)

If it helps I haven’t got a clue what It is , it’s a cool name though! And a great band

Agreed, I loved them in high school! Such an odd phrase. It’s probably one of the most cliche questions you can ask a band but it’s what I wonder about the most.

It’s pretty much in all of our interviews because it tends to say alot about the psyche of a band. For example did you know the goo goo dolls were originally known as the sex maggots ?

I’ve seen them before — when I was a teenager. I was up in Collingwood and there they were as we played football under the stars. 😛 (American football not footie) and they were gorgeous, and DCFC is amazing! I love this song:

Dcfc coincidentally is the initials for my football team 😀

Sex maggots. That paints a vivid picture. And that does make me feel better as the only time I ever interviewed a band, well two bands, I immediately asked them the story behind their names! It was for my school newspaper so small potatoes but I was nervous. Grizfolk and Knox Hamilton back around 2016 I think.

That’s pretty cool that you did that for your school paper though! Band names are incredibly personalised it’s worth getting to the bottom of 🙂
