Introduction
Swedish one man band Drown In Time presents metal with cinematic and artistic flair. Being immensely talented across various instruments has meant that Lucas Fredrik can put together songs like a beautiful jigsaw puzzle.
We genuinely find his music interesting. We have no idea where he will take it next. So we jumped at the chance to catch up with him!

Interview
Where in Sweden are you from?
I Grew up in Uppsala!
What bands from Sweden have you taken inspiration from?
Not much inspiration from Swedish bands particularly but growing up I was very inspired to be a musician by Swedish bands like Europe and The Ark.
You’re working on your 3rd album “Arrival” when can we expect it?
That’s correct, the aim is to release singles within the upcoming year that will eventually lead to the full album release either in 2025 or 2026!
How many different instruments does the band play?
Drown in Time is actually a one man band where I (Lucas Fredrik) compose, play, direct and edit everything that is heard and seen but the aim is to soon get out on the road and play live with a full lineup! Guitar is my main instrument but I also play drums, piano, bass and sing.
How do you think having different instruments in your music sets you apart from your peers?
I think incorporating orchestral and electronic instruments as well as the acoustic instruments serves to create a deeper and broader listening experience that even more takes you on an adventure where you are fully in the music.
What made you choose a bird in your logo ? Also can you settle an internal argument we are having… is it a crow or an eagle?
Glad you brought it up as other people also have wondered haha, it is an eagle! The reason for choosing the eagle is because they are independent and strong animals and the thought is to view yourself as being the eagle when you are going through something challenging.
The processes eagles goes through in order to survive is inspiring and the eagle in Drown in Time represents you, the listener and can be whatever it means for you. For me it is like a spirit animal.

We saw you was advertising for a new drummer , what was that process like and did you find one?
It’s cool how you can access this information haha! To answer the question, there’s a couple different drummers I know that eventually will become a permanent member and it stands between two people so whatever works out best over time is who it will become.
We love the song “Waves” can you give us a little background into it?
Thank you, glad to hear that!
It is a very experimental, progressive and melody based song with lots of electronic, orchestral and movie style elements. One of the more ambitious songs I’ve written. The inspiration for the song came from me watching a video of the ocean during the night with rain and thunder, so at the same time as I started writing the song I also knew clearly how I wanted the music video.
I wanted to make something very new, deep and meaningful that would touch on life between life and death and I was also very inspired by some early 2000’s music for the chorus melody. That song is a body of work that I am so proud of because of how much I pushed myself in both songwriting and storytelling with that song.
Both orchestral and electronic instruments which this song is based around is something I hadn’t done prior to this song. Editing and directing the music video was also something that pushed me in to greater heights.
Who would be your dream three dinner guests?
As I hope they are all real, it would have to be God, Jesus and Buddha. Apart from those it would be Elon Musk, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tom Bilyeu.
What is more important…. Lyrics/instrumental and why?
For me personally it’s the music itself. When I write songs, usually melody comes first and then lyrics. I love music that is catchy so melody is the most important and having the melody makes it easier to write the lyrics.
As I’m humming the melody, there is also usually always some lyrics that come naturally to that melody so I almost write them simultaneously. It’s like the lyrics are meant to be there and maybe they always were in history – I think that there’s a greater purpose for everything that happens and that everyone has a meaningful purpose in this world.

You’re in a karaoke bar and you have to sing something by another rock band , what song is it and why?
Well, it’s fun in those situations to sing songs that also has some growls to shock people so maybe something BFMV but other than that any 80s rock classics, a go to would be 18 and Life by Skid Row!
Where can fans see you next?
On all streaming platforms with the new song, very soon to be released: It’s A Beautiful Day (Dreams II)
What is your dream concert venue and why?
Wembley Stadium! Because that is so f*cking cool!
What do you think is the best line of lyrics you have ever written and why is it the best?
It would have to be one of my personal favourites – “Today”, that always brings a special emotion out of me –
“Every breath I’ve taken have made me who I am today, don’t wanna take it all away.”
I am having goosebumps as I am writing it and with the melody in the song it hits even more. I have gone through alot and because I had the strength to persevere and not only get out of it but become a better person from it.
I have become the person I am today and because of that, no matter how difficult it has been and I really wouldn’t wish what I experienced on anyone, I am happy that it happened because it made me the person I am today.
Do you have anything else you would like to say?
Genuinely love yourself and others!
