For every day in the month leading up to Halloween we will be posting a spooky themed song. On top of this, we will also be giving you a little rock-themed Halloween treat. We will be discussing rock musicians who appeared in horror films.

So grab that jack-o’-lantern, fill it with sweets and listen to our spooky song (If you dare)!

This time it’s Blue Oyster Cult with (Don’t Fear) The Reaper. Alice Cooper is featured in Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991).

While he wasn’t credited for the role Alice Cooper plays Edward Underwood, the adoptive father of Freddy Krueger. Reportedly he only accepted the role as the film agreed to not make him wear any makeup.

    Classic BOC tune! My favorite is Godzilla -probably because it was one I learned to play, and would kind of fit here.

      One time I was listening to BÖC and my dad walked in and said ‘I’d swear they’re singing ‘Godzilla’!’ It’s the kind of sarcastic comment he’d make (he thinks Queensrÿche sound like 4 Non Blondes, and once when I was watching a video clip asked who the woman was who was singing – the answer? Michael Jackson).
      I had a really hard time telling him ‘yes, that’s what they’re singing’.

        Godzilla is always a favourite as is Burnin’ For You. Born To Be Wild and Roadhouse Blues were pretty cool too

    I saw BOC in 1982 at Pine Knob in Clarkston, MI. I still remember someone rode a motorcycle on stage and they played Born to be Wild. Aldo Nova warmed up for them.

    When this started, I mentioned that one of my favourite artists had been in one of my favourite movie series, and I wondered if you’d cover it.
    Well, this was it!
    The fact that you teamed it up with another favourite only adds icing to the cake.

    I have all the albums of both Alice Cooper and Blue Öyster Cult, have seen both live (BÖC only once, I’m afraid), and love ’em to death!
