Review

Right from the intro, I’m struck by nostalgic Linkin Park vibes, grabbing my attention by the collar. Suspense is built by the ticking sound that intensifies as the intro progresses leading up to the first riff. And wow, it really delivers! This riff is killer but I could the higher notes. Although that’s just my own personal views and others will love that.

The drums throughout this track are absolutely fantastic; they are so damn good. Skillfully ramping up the intensity when necessary while also knowing when to hold back. The doesn’t stand out in this song instead it blends with the guitar. Together, they produce that signature sound I can’t get enough of. I think that is fine , bass doesn’t have to be front and center all the time.

The keyboard notes intertwine seamlessly with the vocals, enhancing the complexity and richness of the sound. While there are subtle DJ mixing elements that make me revisit my previous comparison to Linkin Park.

Vocally I’m really enjoying the pre-chorus (or what I’ve decided to call that), I think it deserves a special mention. It is intense and carries significant weight, creating a striking contrast with the melodic chorus. In my opinion, the chorus is almost flawless. I have one minor suggestion. Replace the second “me” with a different word or tweak the line. However, that’s just a small detail with the hook being incredibly catchy and memorable.

“All I see is shattered me, In the mirror staring back at me. My own reflection it cuts so deep, and I’m losing sleep, shattered me”.

This track showcases Feverhill’s fearless exploration of the complex and often challenging aspects of mental health. It serves as an excellent continuation of their previous hit, Straitjacket. Which if you haven’t heard yet I implore you to do so!

The lyrics in the verses are intricately linked to the chorus, with words seamlessly integrated. However I also admire how they hold their own significance, making them impactful even when considered separately.

A vocal shift occurs at 2:56 on the word “cuts”, and its perfection there’s no other way to describe it. It reveals a genuine openness and vulnerability that I truly connected with.

From 2:10 to 2:28, there is section of the song that seems longer than necessary. However, I can overlook that since it introduces the beautifully layered looped vocals in “Shattered Me.” This is something I initially missed during my first few listens. Now, it’s an integral part of the track that I really appreciate.

Honestly this track is fantastic. I can’t help but think that if they maintain this level of quality, they will achieve great success.

9/10

I suffer from insomnia and depression among other stuff. I love the drumming too. As you know I have a thang for drummers. 😉
