Song Of The Week: KiNG FOO – Scream

The next instalment in our weekly Spotify Playlist “Song Of The Week” this time we are joined by KiNG Foo with their song “Scream”.

Song Explanation
KiNG FOO – Scream (All Rights Are Retained By King FOO)

Scream is a kind of our space to get out all the frustration of living in a world full of expectations, hypocrisy and control. There’s so much awareness about system controlling, so many hidden lies, dark truths and sometimes, big pressure from others who claim to care or know what’s best. It’s a release of pent up emotions, a release for truth amidst external manipulation and pressure.

But, the world is still beautiful, because of the music, nature, animals and some people.

Our album that’s on the way, it’s called ”Seeker of the source” and it describes the journey of all four of us, our individual lives and our journey together as a band, in a search for some deeper truths.

Well, asking that kind of questions often brought all four of us lots of hard and painful life experiences and I guess, that’s the only way to learn about life..from experiences. So that’s where the music gets to be magical, an alchemy.

KiNG FOO – Scream (All Rights Are Retained By King FOO)

Usually with our band, there is no WHY it was written, it’s always just a big channeling of music: a piece of paper and kind of internal feel good guidance how to start and what to record first. Then all the details come, arrangements and all the rest.

Sometimes, it’s so powerful, that feels like it comes from some energy bigger than us when songs are written… it’s not us, we are just the channels.

I liked the attitude and edge of the song. It remined me of The Pretty Reckless or Halestorm. I actually bought a few more of their songs. I appreciate you sharing the artist.

I hear a familiar progression during the chorus, but can’t put my finger on what song it reminds me of. The curse (or blessing?) of listening to too much music!

To honestly say what I feel, I think the song is trying to put the pin in the can on the rebellion of the soul to what we call, organize, and execute as society. Nowhere on Earth is it safe to be human, and the scream is there, at first a whisper and then an earthquake, and I see the success of the song in that unexpected perfect fit, that inevitability, but, and here I might come into the tune, the feel of the music as something from the soul and not just rage at the machine. It’s too uptight on itself, too loudly fight on our ears. To get to a melody of soul, which goes past loudness and sweetness because it’s the inevitability of the reach of music in that song, I think the songwriter/singers have to being screaming at themselves at the same time. In that recognition of the part they too play in the madness, with their own kin, with their kids, with their enemies and friends, the song can carry soul, as I hear it anyway. But good song, however much it doesn’t reach a stairway to heaven.

Yes, it is a good song. Maybe my feelings on that got lost in my critique? It would deserve song of the week.

I have been blacklisted even on a grassroots level, and so comments to me have been the only way to get included among us as a poet and artist, but I also get deleted about half the time here too. I put my creativity in comments, put myself, and that puts people off we are so picky, and there are just too many of us. I’ve recently gotten published though, and I’m just saying. I must also thank you for your likes of my poetry, why I’m here to begin with, as means to say thank you.

But I’ve replied again to mainly say that you missed the main meaning of my sentence. I mean the song does not take us to heaven or to soul form, to that place great in terms of us, to everlasting, and at the same I’m making a cultural allusion to that famous song “Stairway to Heaven,” which, by the way, almost makes it.

Oh no! Why do you feel like you have been blacklisted Donny?

You certainly put creativity into your comments and that’s really appreciated especially by us. Sorry if that wasn’t felt earlier its been a very very long day 🤣

I’m thrilled to hear you recently got published do you have a link to where it is so we can give it a read ?

You’re very welcome , poetry is a passion of mine that I no longer follow myself but love to see in others!

It was a very clever and meaningful comment one which is pretty certain the band would be very appreciative of! I know I certainly am and I’m in full agreement 🤝

Maybe censored would be the better word. It must sound like paranoia to you, and it’s not something some Illuminati of art and poetry have decided upon, but it’s in the fabric of my reality in trying to get off my own social media accounts and into even a modest public showing as a poet and photographer, as an artist, and my verse is not bad, my photos not terrible; it’s all just new and talks about and shows controversial issues in ways contrary to the zeitgeist of sex and morality, the center of our social spending to any given time spirit.

And here in India where I live, both the publications of the yoga that I follow, and there are many, most in English, and the publishing and posting arms of the city of human unity, Auroville, have blacklisted me for reasons my poetry explains, and I’ve only had a couple of emails answered in the past couple of years, and I’ve send out so many, and my comments get deleted immediately. Of course all this has helped me to try and rise to the occasion and produce the best art that I can.

I’ve just gotten four poems published by the same art and literary mag, one on the edge of humanity, but it would not publish my photos, which are to me a part of each poem. Here’s a link to one of those poems. The others can be found at the bottom of the page. Thank you for allowing me to leave a link; people get mad at me for leaving links in comments, and I’ve learned the hard way not to do that. https://edgeofhumanity.com/2024/11/11/harms-end-blog-by-donny-lee-duke-whispering-softly-at-the-end-of-the-world-how-loud-i-sing/

I absolutely think it is essential that you can leave a link especially as it gives others reading your comments a chance to see your work! Its a damn shame they wont publish your photos though i agree wholeheartedly that if a photo was taken to go alongside a poem they belong together.

Great song, I feel the scenes are also pretty well done, cinamatography of the video is high quality, and they most definitely did well there. I liked King Foo before, but this is really great! Thanks for the share
